What You Should Know
- Requests must be in writing — verbal requests are not accepted
- The Act does not require the county to create new information, perform legal research, or answer questions
- Some information may be exempt from disclosure under Texas law
- If the county seeks an Attorney General ruling on exemptions, you will be notified within 10 business days
- Costs may apply per Texas Attorney General rules (copying, labor, overhead)
