Caldwell County is governed by the Commissioners Court — the County Judge, presiding, and four County Commissioners elected from precincts. Commissioners Court
The county's governing body sets policy, adopts the annual budget, sets the tax rate, and oversees county operations. It meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at 9:00 a.m. in Room 200 (Second Floor, County Courtroom), 110 S. Main Street, Lockhart.
