Multiple agencies are responding to an approximately 20-acre fire on Mineral Springs Road between FM 671 and US 183 in the southern part of Caldwell County. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. Expect traffic delays if you are nearby.
UPDATE (4:45): Containment is at approximately 15%. Please continue to avoid the area.
UPDATE (4:49): County Judge Hoppy Haden has issued an Emergency Order Prohibiting Outdoor Burning. This will remain in effect until Aug. 27. Please refrain from burning at this time. Click here to view the order.
UPDATE (7:30 p.m.): The fire is at 45% containment.
UPDATE (8:36 p.m.): The fire is now at 90% containment. A total of 18 acres of heavy brush burned. There have been a total of two heat related injuries that were treated at the scene.
UPDATE (9 p.m.): Roads are now open. Caldwell County Office of Emergency Management will return to the scene in the morning. Special thanks to Pat Baker Company for donating ice and water and Mineral Springs Baptist Church Pastor Kyle Bishop for opening the doors to the church to provide a cooling station for firefighters.
